Since I lost my 90 I have been working on bringing my beloved Nugget (my Series 2a with a V8 ) back to life . On Monday I thought I had her ready so Becky was to meet me at the garage and I was to drive Nugget from her garage to the MOT station, well I failed and had to abort. On further investigation I found the fuel pump had given up so I replaced this and on Thursday I tried again only this time Becky followed me to my Unit to pick Nugget up then followed us to the MOT station, (she said she found it very difficult to keep up with the pace set by Nugget). We left Nugget then aited for the results of the MOT test and YES she PASSED and will now accompany me to all events.
For those members who do not know Nugget, I will give you some history.
Nugget was my first Land Rover and quickly earned the reputation for it unreliability and after 7 engine changes (3X 2.25 petrol engines, 3X Ford 3.0L V6 engines and the current Range Rover V8 on carbs and a proposed future change to a 200 TDI diesel with what would be her second chassis change, I feel that I know her reasonably well.
Nugget has been on most of the clubs earliest events and famously has broken in some remote areas of Wales and has needed to be recovered by various club members including Gary Barber,Matt, Nick, Mark,Wayne, Roy, Rob and Tim.
I am really looking forward to the coming years events driving Nugget and would really appreciate loads of you being there with us as I may need your help . The first event we are attending together is This years Abingdon 4x4 Festival at Dalton Barracks hope to see you all there.
